SOCIAL DISTANCING ACTIVITIES IN THE GULF SHORES AREA

Joseph Pawlak | December 12, 2022

The CDC defines social distancing as “keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home.” It’s the 6-feet clear rule. By now, you’ve figured out what activities you can easily do while keeping your social distance and which take a little more concentration. Don’t worry, there are plenty of things to do here where you can practice Gulf Shores social distancing and enjoy yourself at the same time on your next vacation with these social distancing activities in Gulf Shores.

The Water!

It’s all about the beach! It’s why people come to Gulf Shores – the bright white sand and brilliant blue water. Whether you’re an avid fisherman, beachcomber, or just want to work on your tan, it all works.

Charter a fishing adventure for you or your small group to get the most out of your fishing time. The captain and his crew will guide you to the best inshore fishing, near-shore fishing, or offshore (deep sea) fishing spots. Pit your skills against king mackerel, red snapper, Spanish mackerel, cobia, seatrout, mahi-mahi and more! Or, get a different perspective on things and rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboard. Get up close and personal while fighting that redfish or sheepshead from your kayak. And you don’t have to fish either, just kayak the day away, taking in the beautiful scenery.

If the kids want to build a sandcastle, or you just want to lay on the sand soaking up some rays, it’s easy to follow the 6-foot rule. Just draw a circle in the sand at least 6-foot in diameter around your spot. You can make your own self-distancing device out of fabric, tent poles and duct tape, pool noodles or whatever you can find. Form circles, squares, or whatever makes you feel safe.

Hike and More!

Head to Gulf State Park, where your family can hike over 28 miles of paved trails and boardwalks, including through the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail. You’ll trek through nine different ecosystems as you keep an eye out for alligators, raccoons, heron and bald eagles. You may get lucky and see one of our elusive bobcats or cute red foxes! By yourself and tired of hiking? Try your hand at Geocaching! And biking along the trails is a perfect choice of solitary social distancing activities in Gulf Shores.

Amenities Make It Easy for Gulf Shores Social Distancing

Once you’ve hiked, fished and done the beach thing, head back to your Gulf Shores beach rental for a nap on your comfy bed. Afterwards, relax on your deck and watch for dolphins. Grab some delicious take-out from a nearby restaurant and dine al fresco on your shaded porch. Your rental’s fully equipped kitchens make reheating your meal or grilling your catch of the day a breeze! And free Wi-Fi means plenty of choices for movie night!

Many of the local establishments like arcades, water parks and mini-golf courses are beginning to open up. Give our knowledgeable staff a call, they keep up on all the latest news. Plus they can make suggestions on restaurants open for delivery or take-out. Give us a call today!
