Gulf Shores is a perfect place to visit in the spring. The weather is just right – it’s not too cold and it hasn’t gotten too hot yet – and the crowds haven’t descended down on the beach yet. So while you’re planning things, think about scheduling your trip around one of the many fun events in the area and get more out of your trip. And one of the first big festivals of the season is the Annual Festival of Art, one of the many art festivals in Alabama.
Art on Showcase
Held this year on Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th, this annual Orange Beach art festival is free to the public. The Festival of Art showcases a wide variety of art and artists, with both local and non-local artists contributing their work. From fine arts to arts & crafts to fun tacky beachside souvenirs, there will be something at the festival for every taste and every budget. Art and mediums included are glass and ceramics, watercolor, acrylic and oils, textiles and wood, and so much more. With over 100 artists in attendance for the entire weekend displaying their works of art, you can take your time finding that special piece to take home.
Sponsors for this year’s event include The Friends of the Arts, Inc., Flora-Bama, Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Foundation, Centennial Bank and The Orange Beach Store.
Festival hours are from 10am to 5pm each day, and the festival will be held at the popular Orange Beach Waterfront Park, located at 26389 Canal Road in Orange Beach. Off-site satellite parking is available, (no public parking will be allowed on site), and there is a shuttle to the festival site from those satellite parking sites. Call the festival office at 251-981-2787 for more information or if you have questions.
