If you are looking for the ultimate way to combine your love of the Gulf Coast with your love of competing, you need to head down to Gulf Shores for the annual Brett-Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon. Early in September every year, competitors swim, bike and run through some of the prettiest scenery in the south. Join them if you’re feeling fit.

The triathlon begins on Saturday, September 7, 2019, bright and early at 7am. Things get started with a swim in the bright blue waters of the Gulf. Next up – a bike ride through Gulf State Park, then the race finishes with a run out-and-back on East Beach Blvd.

Join the Brett-Robinson Triathalon

There are two races to choose from: an Olympic distance triathlon and the beginner-friendly Sprint triathlon. The Olympic features a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike race and a 6 mile run. The Sprint features a 300yd swim, a 12.4mile bike race and a 2 mile run to end things. The Olympic race begins at 7am sharp with the Sprint starting a little later at 7:30am. There are several categories including para-triathletes and two team-relay races. Age groups start with 13-15 years and end with the 80+ age group.

Anyone can attend the awards ceremony and post-race party after the Brett-Robinson Triathlon. Just head for the crowds; they’ll be waiting for you at The Hangout. After an exhausting race, participants can enjoy a great buffet and free beer (for everyone over 21).

A Team Magic race, the triathlon is sponsored by Brett-Robinson and hosted by The Hangout. In fact, The Hangout is the place where all the action occurs. Starting with packet pickup and ending with the finish line. Prices vary for Olympic and Sprint events, so check the event website for the price of your specific event. Register by mail or on-line at the Team Magic website for the gulf event.
