Catalina

Ah, Catalina, the one that started it all. This is the original beach cottage that Steve and Becky Harris first purchased in 1983. Graced with seemingly endless gulf and beachfront views, Catalina is the ultimate tropical paradise in Gulf Shores. Whether you're gazing out from the breezy comfort of the covered front deck or from the glamorous master suite with a full, private bathroom, you'll see the soft and sandy shores of the Gulf of Mexico stretch as far into the horizon as they eye can see. This wonderful house sleeps 8 and is a treasure to beach life. 

About Catalina 

Named for the famous WWII flying boat, Catalina has the distinction of being the first beach cottage purchased by the Harris family in 1983. It is now owned by Becky Harris and is conveniently located close to other Harris Vacation Rentals such as Fountain of Youth, Point Clear and Bellingrath. This arrangement is ideal for large groups of friends or family members that all want to enjoy each other's company without feeling confined to sharing a single house together. 

The two bedrooms each have their own full bathroom. The east bedroom is set up as a guest room and has sleeping for 2 with a queen bed. The west bedroom is the master and features captivating beachfront views with sleeping for 4 with a king bed and a bunk bed. In between, you will find the spacious living room with a sleeper sofa to sleep 2 on the beachside and the kitchen dining room on the roadside. With a front and back deck, you can choose the shaded seclusion of the covered front porch or the sunny back porch perfect for laying out. The interior of this lovely home boasts a spacious living room that opens to the dining room area, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with appliances, cookware, and plenty of counter space for sharing meals and moments together.

Fort Morgan

Fort Morgan is a quiet beach community away from the crowds and congestion. On the peninsula, guests will find the following restaurants: Tacky Jacks 2, Sassy Bass, The Coast Restaurant, The Village Hideaway, and The Kiva Grill. Guests can play golf at the Peninsula or at Kiva Dunes. There is an accessible boat launch and marina at the Gulf Shores Marina at Fort Morgan. Last but not least, there is a historical Civil War Site to explore at the Fort Morgan Historic Site. There is something for everyone in Fort Morgan!
 
Rental Age Policy

We love people of all ages, and we want everyone to enjoy our homes.  However, we do require that an adult 25 years or older reserve the home and be present at the home during your entire stay. We do not rent to anyone under the age of 25.  We have no exception to this policy. If you are found to not be in compliance with this policy, you will be immediately evicted from the premises without a refund of any amount.

Fantastic little house. Recently renovated for a coastal feel without being too Theme like. Had a minor issue but property manager fixed immediately and even gave us gift card for dinner at Tacky Jacks. We love visiting Fort Morgan beach and try a different house each time. We’d definitely book this one again for next year but it’s already taken!!

Everything was perfect. Thank you for the great customer service. The Catalina was beautiful, clean, and well equipped.We needed a quick break so bad but now we are planning on a much longer stay! The Catalina went beyond our expectations in every way. The home was beautifully decorated and spotless clean. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay was available. The first step out onto the deck and the view of the sand and gulf was breath taking. Away from the crowds but plenty of friendly folks on the beach with their dogs. Sunrises and sunsets from the deck were beautiful.Can't say enough about the customer service at Harris Vacations. No need to look no further for a firm that cares about your enjoyment. Quaint little beach cottage that’s tastefully decorated (not overdone with the beach theme like so many other beach properties). Well appointed with regard to household essentials (kitchen and bathroom supplies). Perfect for my husband and me. But the best part about the house is the direct beach location…a very short walk from the back porch to the shore. Enjoyed watching the sunrise very morning from the porch! Fort Morgan is kind of in a remote area but this did not bother us.

This is an incredible house. Less than 100 steps to the beach from the back deck. Furnished nicely...beds are VERY comfortable, which is a departure from other houses we\'ve stayed in. Very secluded, but only a 20 minute drive to the nightlife of Gulf Shores. Highly recommended. Will definitely be staying with Harris properties again.

We did bring extra tp, paper towels, and laundry soap; after reading previous reviews we knew that we would run out of these things (1 roll was provided per bathroom). I highly recommend going to the store before settling into the house since most stores are at least 10-15 miles away (with the exception of some smaller stores). We have visited several beaches and stayed in many vrbo’s, and this was definitely one of our favorites!

We love the catalina, especially the recent updates! We have been staying here twice a year for the last few years and plan on keep doing it. I have already booked it in October 2023, April 2024 and September 2024. The site wouldn't let me review it again. The only things I would change is to have put in elongated toilets instead of round ones and a shelf in the showers for soap and shampoo. Other than those things it's a fantastic house!

We have been visiting Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores since 2012 and have always referred to the Catalina as our favorite house, which was the first one we rented at Fort Morgan years ago. Since then we have tried over and over to rent this house again and were unsuccessful because someone always beat us to it. We were delighted to find it open for Christmas in 2021 and jumped at the chance! We loved the Catalina for its delightfully-rough-around-the-edges-charm the first time we rented, but wow! The upgrades and renovation since the hurricane turned it into a dream home! We appreciate the amazing views from every room in the house, the back deck is awesome and a great place to watch the Blue Angels overhead, the beds are super comfortable, and the new decor is really nice. Still our favorite house on the beach and we cannot wait to go back. Harris Properties has never let us down.

Harris Vacation Rentals were very friendly and easy to book with. Checking in was nothing more than a simple email and showing up to the Beach house. They checked in w/ us via txt and were always a quick message away to help if there had been any issues during our stay. Our location on Ft. Morgan was a perfect get away spot that was quiet, yet close enough to restaurants, shops, and fun! Ft. Morgan is pet friendly, so we were able to bring along our pooch and let her enjoy the sun and sand as well.

PERFECT WEEK!! We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. Met and made new friends. Watched beautiful sunrises and glorious sunsets. I don't know if I can even explain how wonderful our stay has been at Catalina. But here goes. When we arrived we were very excited to see the update that had occurred since Hurricane Sally. It looks as though Joanna Gaines came in and decorated. Absolutely stunning. Beautiful industrial decor with navy and chambray and hints of Aqua and beautiful ship-lap. Windows had been Replaced. Nice huge windows, views of the gulf from all rooms. The master had a nice big king bed and a set of bunks. The guest has a nice queen bed with industrial style lights hanging above the bed for reading. Just beautiful. The house was very cool. Didn't get hot at all. I stay hot, so it was fantastic. Huge, covered porch with great outdoor furniture. At Catalina you are literally steps from the beach. We loved that our kids could go down and back up without us constantly having to be with them. Kitchen was adequately stocked with pots, pans, dishes and Keurig with 2 regular coffee pots as well. Plenty of coffee cups and glasses. We had plenty of bedding, pillows, for pullout sofa bed. Queen blowup mattress in closet. A fan is also in the master closet if needed. But the ceiling fans were phenomenal. They cooled like none I have ever seen. WE will DEFINITELY be back to this house. I am so glad we were able to stay here. I hate that it was hit by Hurricane Sally. But I did LOVE what they did with the place!! Thumbs up high for Harris Properties!!

My wife and I were supposed to stay here September 2020, but the hurricane had other plans. We finally got to stay here the first week of May 2021 and it was definitely worth it! The Catalina beach home is right on the beach. The beautiful white sand comes all the way up to the beach house. It was perfect for our needs! This is a simple 2 bedroom house with a view of the ocean from every room!! The home has a DVD player for those that like to bring their workout videos or favorite movies (DVD player was not listed as an amenity). We had a great time- The staff at Harris was a pleasure to work with. They were always so polite, cheerful, and very helpful!! Thank you for sharing your home!!! We will definitely be back!!!!!

Fall Chill

This was our first Fall stay at the beach and it was wonderful. The house is literally feet to the water. I wanted to win the lottery and purchase it! The house isn't flashy or new but it was clean and comfortable. Our dog had a blast. He never experienced sand and absolutely loved it. He ran and dug holes searching for sand crabs I guess. Fort Morgan is the perfect Spot for beach lovers. It is peaceful without all the fuss of attractions, hotels and retailers. You are Close enough to experience that but for a simplistic beach vacation I'd recommend this house and Fort Morgan.

If you are looking for luxury this isn't it but if you are looking for an affordable rental with a great location this is it. Just steps from the ocean with a great covered porch to enjoy the view. This house is one of the closest to the beach in the area. The only negative was that the washing machine is older and the dial wouldn't go to rinse and spin - not a major problem, just ran a regular load.

Right on the beach!

If you are headed to the beach and looking for a house based on location, like we were, this is the house for you! It was literally 30 steps (yes, we counted) to the water's edge. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, which we weren't, this is not for you. The code to get in didn't work when we first arrived, within a 3 minute phone call we were inside the house. We were able to sit on the covered deck (they don't all have covered decks) and watch the storms roll over the ocean, watch the kids play, pick up seashells, watch dolphins out the window, kayak and go for long walks without lots of people. We brought our small dog and it was perfect for her. The house and beach are dog friendly and all the neighbors were friendly with her. It is a short drive into places to eat, but we only go out for dinner, so again, it was perfect for us. There are stairs into the house and out the backdoor to the ocean, so keep that in mind if you have elderly people with you (they are "kinda" steep). Thank you for a perfect location for our hard earned week of vacation time!

Relaxing and simple pleasures

My husband and I never get to get away. We both have super busy schedules. The Catalina was a wonderful, relaxing, and simple vacation rental. We woke up and went to sleep hearing the waves crash on the beach. That is how close you are to the water. It's quiet without the younger crowd right on top of you. I am definitely renting this place again next year. This was our first vacation in 3 years. Looking forward to making this place a tradition to end our summer for our couples only getaway.

The large bedroom with 2 beds and a set of bunk beds made everyone comfortable to sleep at night. Then waking up super early to sit with the kids on the porch and drink my morning coffee was my absolute favorite. They were able to play on the beach all day and with a short walk to the house for the many items that come with having kids made it super convenient. Even my college age brother was happy with hanging out on the beach all day and a short drive to a few restaurants! It was a VERY clean house with a new couch and bedding. Even my college age brother was happy with hanging out on the beach all day and a short drive to a few restaurants! It was a very clean house with a new couch and bedding. The tv and wifi all worked great. We had everything we needed. Thank you Harris Properties!

Clean, Comfortable, Close to the beach, QUIET

We were very pleased with our stay at Catalina this past weekend. The house was very clean and there were plenty of towels/washcloths in the bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and any basic appliance you might need. There isn't any seasonings besides salt/pepper so just remember to bring your own. There's beach views from every room in this house ! The weather was not very good for our stay, gusty winds and mostly cloudy the whole time. We didn't see many people walking the beach during the whole weekend. We ate at Tacky Jacks & Sassy Bass on Fort Morgan and also picked up fresh seafood from S&S Seafood and Fresh Market Seafood.We liked the food better at Sassy Bass Restaurant. All in all, a good weekend getaway for our family. My one recommendation for the property owner of house would be a gate for the stairs at entrance & heading down to the beach. We had a 3 year old toddler with us and I worried that she would get away from us and fall down the stairs somehow. Just a thought for safety while sitting on the porches. Thank you for letting us rent this house for our vacation !

Awesome Experience!

Great times at the Catalina

This was our first time visiting Ft Morgan and the Gulf Shores area. It was also our first reserving from Harris Properties, and it will not be our last. The house was perfect for us, it included all the amenities we needed for our family of four. The deck overlooking the ocean is awesome, stepping off onto what felt like our own stretch of beach. Harris Properties was a pleasure to deal with, they had good communication and provides us with information for everything we needed!

Amazing Babymoon at the Catalina

We absolutely loved our stay at the Catalina! Our firstborn is due in November, and we were so eager to get away one last time as a family of two. Catalina was everything we expected and more. The beach front was absolutely beautiful! We especially enjoyed the covered back deck as during parts of our stay it rained. Being able to sit outside and not miss a moment of the beach was a real treat. Management was such a pleasure to work with as well. We definitely would recommend Harris Properties to everyone we know!

Excellent beach front cottage

This place was beyond my expectations. I brought my lab with me. She loved waking up in the mornings and walking right down into the sand and walking along the beautiful beach! The house has everything you need. You can see dolphins in the morning from the beach side patio. I already reserved for next year before I left! Amazing vacation!!

Wonderful Stay

I am 7 months pregnant with a 2 year old. My husband and I stayed in Catalina and it was absolutely WONDERFUL! The beach was so private and the house was so peaceful. To wake up to hear the waves and my little one so excited to get out to the beach it truly made for a wonderful time.The house it self was easy to find and fully equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful Catalina

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Catalina! We were able to watch the dolphins play & swim really close to shore, crab hunt at night, & just enjoy the peace & quiet of the beach. Booking was easy, access to the property was hassle free, & the customer service with Harris Properties was flawless! The only thing that needs attention is the living room & dining room furniture. Not only would we return here, but i would also recommend to family & friends!!! Note: Thanks for staying with Harris Properties at Catalia, the one that started it all! A Little Piece of Heaven

This was our third year staying at the Catalina; it's my home away from home. If you're looking for resort style furnishings this is not the place for you. If you're looking for the perfect view from your window when you wake in the morning, or from your hammock on the deck (we brought a hammock)this is it. In the morning you can drink your coffee and watch the beautiful pinks and blues of the sunrise, and in the evening have a glass of wine and watch the breath-taking yellows and oranges of the sunset. The house is old and has it's quirks, but it is comfortable and has a well stocked kitchen. In case you can't tell; I highly recommend it.

Perfect getaway bungalow for our 10 year Anniversary Stay!

This is the perfect quiet little getaway beach house. Ft. Morgan is far secluded from the Gulf Shores and mayhem. Catalina is the cutest little retro bungalow. We enjoyed every second of our stay. We anticipated going out to dinner a lot but the Catalina was just so perfectly peaceful we ended up getting fish and crab from one of the local markets along with some staples from Publix in town and just stayed at the house as much as possible. The beach was clean and pet friendly and our Brittany-Shepherd mix had as much fun on our beach-combing walks as we did. People knew them by name and the kids would come up to pet them. And seeing dolphins swimming right from the back porch was just icing on the cake of our amazing Anniversary vacation. We fully plan on coming back to Catalina again very soon.

Perfect Location!!

After an afternoon enjoying the busy Shrimp Festival, it was wonderful to drive to the peaceful uncrowded environment of Fort Morgan. We spent the evening on the porch only yards from the ocean, watching an incredible sunset. In the morning, we watched dolphins make their morning tour in search of breakfast. We snorkeled in absolutely clear water, took long beach walks, watched football on the big screen TV, and had easy access to Internet. The layout of the house is ideal for two couples, or a couple with children, as the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house and each has it's own bathroom. All the amenities and location you need for a perfect stay!!

My wife and I stayed here for a quick getaway. The house is just perfect for a couple to relax and enjoy the beach. The views are amazing, as both bedrooms and living room look out at the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Perfect for a couple or family just wanting to enjoy each other and the beach.
