Fun Things to See and Do in Gulf Shores

Visitors to Gulf Shores will find that our town has a ton of amazing attractions and recreation that you can enjoy here.

When people think of Gulf Shores, the first thing that comes to mind is our pristine beachfront. Lie back on the soft sands of Gulf Shores Public Beach and take in sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico’s crystal-clear waters while enjoying the warm sunshine. Plan a picnic near the state line between Alabama and Florida at Alabama Point East in the neighboring town of Orange Beach.

Even parks and nature preserves, such as Gulf State Park and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, are home to incredible beaches that you can either swim and sunbathe on or at least go for a picturesque stroll. When you’re visiting these two parks, you and your guests will also have a variety of options for additional activities off of the water. Gulf State Park is home to golfing and tennis, hiking and biking, sand dunes with ziplines, and piers for fishing. Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, meanwhile, is renowned for its sea turtle and migratory bird sightings, in addition to its trail network.

Hiking meets family-friendly fun in the forests just outside of town, where visitors will find amazing replicas like Bamahenge and Dinosaurs in the Forest. Other exciting attractions that visitors of all ages will love include Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf for its detailed mini golf course with pirate ships and waterfalls, OWA Amusement Park for its thrilling roller coasters and pleasant kiddie rides, and Waterville USA for its refreshing waterslides, cool laser tag matches, exciting go-kart track, and fun-filled mini golf course.

Those who are intrigued by historical sites will also find that there’s a lot to see in the Gulf Shores area. Fort Morgan Historic Site is home to the ruins of an important fort that played a role in the Civil War. The fort also hires costumed actors to reenact what life was like during the period that soldiers used the fort. In town, Gulf Shores Museum showcases exhibits on local history from the inside of a historic home. And the Swift-Coles Historic Home from the nineteenth century offers a glimpse at daily life during the era.

No matter where your days take you, you’re sure to have a wonderful time!
