HomeGulf Shores for the HolidaysEaster Rentals in Gulf Shores

For Christians around the world, Easter is the culmination of Holy Week, and this principal Christian holiday is marked with church services, joyous choral music, Easter lilies, and Easter brunch. For kids around the world, it means Easter baskets filled with colorful eggs, candy, that weird green plastic grass and lots of chocolate. Easter in Gulf Shores is all of those things, with a coastal twist, especially in our places to Stay in Gulf Shores Beach.

Traditional Celebrations

Churches throughout Gulf Shores will be having their annual Easter services and welcome visitors with open arms. But, since you’re in Gulf Shores, why not embrace the coastal experience, and celebrate the coastal way with a sunrise service on the beach? Attend an organized service or have your own, private, family service on the beach or on your rental’s deck as you watch the sunrise slowly over the water bringing light and color to the world.

Coastal Easter Celebrations

The nearby Flora-Bama will be hosting their annual Worship on the Water, a casual, coastal service on the beach. The service is open to everyone, but it’s best to arrive early because this service is extremely popular. After the service, stay for the fun and their annual Easter celebrations, with kids’ crafts and face painting, an Easter egg hunt on the beach and a skydiving Easter Bunny. After his drop to the beach, kids can get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny.

Another popular, beachfront spot, the Hangout in Gulf Shores, also hosts a sunrise service. After the service, kids can meet the Easter Bunny and have their pictures taken with him. Stay for their Easter brunch with plenty of delicious, fresh local seafood and traditional Easter fare.

Wake the kids up early for Breakfast with the Bunny, at Gulf Shores’ Eric H. Meyer Civic Center. After an old-fashioned breakfast (including kid-friendly pancakes and bacon), kids of all ages can have their pictures taken with the Easter bunny.

With one of our best places to stay in Gulf Shores, your family can have their own private and safe Easter celebration right on the beach. Start with your family’s own sunrise service or moment of reflection, then hide those colorful Easter eggs your kids colored last night on the beach or throughout your rental then let them have fun searching for them.

Easter Brunch

It wouldn’t be Easter without Easter brunch! All of our rentals have fully equipped kitchens, so you’ll have all the room and equipment you’ll need. Some of our vacation rentals feature gourmet kitchens so you can really have fun. It’s time to put all your culinary skills to the test.

Eggs may be the most popular food associated with the holiday so, how about scrambled eggs or omelets to start the day? Or a quiche or two for Easter brunch? Asparagus and cheddar are delicious and taste like springtime. And you’ll need to save some eggs for everyone’s favorite deviled eggs! But before you let the kids color the eggs, prick a hole in the ends of each egg, then blow out the contents. You can start the night before then save the eggs for later, and let the kids color the empty egg shells. Get creative in your decorating and apply string and wax to the egg prior to coloring.

Try your hand at making something you’ve never made before, like Hot Cross Buns, a traditional Easter treat, or pretzels. In Europe, it’s common to serve pretzels during Lent, where the looped design symbolizes arms crossed in prayer. Plus, they can be made without dairy products which many people avoid during Lent (and they’re not as hard to make as you think).

While you can make the traditional foods usually on an Easter brunch menu like ham (with the cloves and cinnamon like your grandmother made), and sides like baked Mac’n’Cheese, sweet potato praline casserole and scalloped potatoes, why not put a coastal spin on your menu? Start a new tradition with fresh crab cakes, shrimp scampi, shrimp & grits, a low country boil or fish fry. Pick up your fresh, locally caught seafood at one of the local markets like Gulf Shores Seafood or catch your own. Save yourself the work, and just order take-out from a local restaurant. And don’t forget to pick up a carrot cake while you’re out if you’re not in a baking mood.
