Family Fun During Halloween in Gulf Shores

Halloween can be fun for kids of all ages, but it’s really all the little zombies, princesses and superheroes who will be having the most fun. Luckily, there are plenty of choices for a family-friendly Gulf Shores Halloween style. And with average temps in the mid to upper 70s, you won’t have to worry about bundling your little creatures up for all the fun.

Get the family together, put on your scariest costume, and head over to the Gulf Place Town Green and Public Parkway for The Wild & Wicked Beach Bash. It’s fun for kids of all ages with the Haunted Hustle 5k Walk/Run, Witches on Wheels Bike Parade, live music, food & drinks.

Boo at the Zoo (at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo) will be fun for all kids with a costume contest, games, prizes and snacks on Saturday, October 20th. Kids can have fun while trick-or-treating in a safe place. There’ll be trick-or-treat stations, face painting, games, animals galore and more!Plan to spend the whole day so everyone will have time to see all of the animals including the hilarious lemurs and Katrina, a beautiful black leopard. Rajah, Rani and Omar, Bengal tigers, are just three of the many amazing endangered animals living at the zoo. Your little ones will love the petting zoo, your adventurers will enjoy the Reptile House with its giant snakes and weird bugs, and everyone will enjoy the Animal Encounters with the endearing two-toed sloths.

All kinds of fun await your gang at LuLu’s Spooktacular BooLu’s Halloween Celebration. Local businesses will be handing out candy to all the little creatures, with pumpkin decorating, crafts and a costume contest for the kids. And while the kids are having fun with Halloween crafts, the adults can be enjoying fresh seafood and adult beverages while watching seagulls swoop over the blue Gulf waters. Even if you miss the Halloween event, head to LuLu’s anyway, there’s usually something going on at this popular beachfront establishment. Kids can play in the arcade or climb one of LuLu’s Rope Courses while the adults enjoy the live entertainment.

Of course, you can always just have your own Halloween celebration at your beautiful Gulf Shores rental. The kids can have their own costume contest as they parade up and down the beach while you judge from the porch. And your rental’s free Wi-Fi means the entire family can watch their favorite scary movies all night long. Just remember to stock up on your family’s favorite candies! Or whip up some tasty goodies in your rental’s fully equipped kitchen. Rice Krispy Treats, cupcakes, and cookies can easily be turned into creepy treats with little effort, and cocktail wienies and crescent rolls make such cute little mummies! Turn off the lights and pass around the cauliflower brain or those peeled grape eyeballs. Yuck! The kids will love it!

Scary Fun

For adults and older kids, try your skills at an escape room. With spooky ambiance galore and Historic Fort Morgan’s masonry chambers as the backdrop, what could be more fun than imagining you’re a Federal spy who has been captured by Confederate soldiers in the Civil War – can you escape? Just a few minutes west from Gulf Shores, Historic Fort Morgan allows guests to step back in time with live, historically accurate reenactments daily. This historic pentagonal fort has been protecting the Gulf coastline since the War of 1812 and is an important part of our country’s history that you shouldn’t miss seeing.

Or at the Gulf Shores Escape Room (701 Gulf Shores Parkway) pick your poison from the Zombie Autopsy, The Doll Attic, and Stop the Oil Spill scenarios; it’s scary fun for all ages! And, if you still haven’t had enough puzzles and escaping, drive a little east along the coast to The Wharf in Orange Beach and their Breakout Orange Beach Escape Room.

Adult Fun

You can’t come to the Gulf without experiencing the world-famous Flora-Bama honkytonk in nearby Perdido Key, Florida. With a Gulf-front oyster bar, several beachfront bars, and live music on five different stages, this is “America’s last great roadhouse.” There’s always a party going on, and Halloween is no exception! Join in the fun on Halloween at the annual Halloween Party & Costume Contest. Put on your spookiest, goofiest and/or sexiest favorite costume for the costume contest with over $2,000 in cash and prizes! And if you don’t have a costume, don’t worry, you’ll have tons of fun just watching while you enjoy those bushwackers!
