The Original German Sausage Festival has been hosted by Elberta, Alabama’s Volunteer Fire Department since 1978 and funds raised at the festival are dedicated to improving the fire department, local non-profit organizations and the town of Elberta! Just twice a year you can have the chance to try Alfred Stucki’s original secret recipe for Elberta’s famous sausage. Over 7,000 pounds of German Sausage are consumed at every festival, along with hot dogs, sauerkraut, potato salad, red beans and rice, hamburgers, ice cream, popcorn, peanuts, local homemade baked goods, and a large selection of imported and domestic beers.
Fun for the Whole Family
So bring your family out to Elberta’s town park at the intersection of Main and State Streets, across from Town Hall on the last Saturday of March and the last Saturday of October from 8am – 5pm. Come out and enjoy an event for the whole family – listen to live polka, country, and traditional German music, have some sausage and play games on the carnival midway, then grab some baked goods to take back with you.
