What does Easter mean to your family? Easter services, Easter lilies and a delicious Easter brunch? The Easter Bunny, egg hunts and chocolate bunny ears? Easter baskets filled with colorful eggs, candy and that weird plastic grass? Easter is all of this and more. If your family is in Gulf Shores over the Alabama Easter weekend, here are some suggestions for your holiday.
Alabama Easter Bunnies, Egg Hunts & More
LuLu’s, a beachfront, family-friendly restaurant, will have an Easter Egg DASH and the Easter Bunny. After the DASH and bunny pics, stay for brunch. Everything on the menu is tasty, but make sure to try their famous seafood gumbo and the Krispy Kreme bread pudding.
Check out the Flora-Bama Easter EGGTRAVAGANZA! A full day on the beach at the world-famous beach honky-tonk. Activities include face painting, an Easter Egg Hunt, and then the Easter Bunny skydives onto the beach. Stay on after the festivities for Easter brunch – with oysters, burgers, and more. You won’t forget this Easter celebration!
On the Saturday before Easter, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo’s Breakfast with the Bunny will be held at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center. Your kids will love having breakfast with the Easter Bunny! There’s an Easter Egg Hunt, face painting and lots of the zoo’s cute little bunnies will be there for petting. And on Easter, head over to the zoo to watch the animals enjoy their Easter treats. Check their website for details and ticket prices.
Easter Services & More
Attend one of the local area churches services or try something coastal instead. The beachfront Flora-Bama Lounge’s Worship on the Water is a casual, coastal style service. This service is open to everyone, every Sunday at 11am. Get there early, because this service is particularly popular. And, of course, stay for lunch after the service.
For a coastal sunrise service, head to another popular Gulf Shores beach spot: The Hangout. After the Gulf Shores Easter Sunrise Service, kids can meet the Easter Bunny. Make sure to stay for The Hangout’s Easter Buffet.
For those families who like something more traditional, make reservations at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach for their Easter celebrations. After the sunrise service, kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny then look for eggs in the Easter Egg Hunt. After the festivities, everyone heads to the Grand Ballroom of Voyagers for Easter Brunch. For prices and to make your reservations, check their website.
Something Completely Different
What could be a better way to start your Alabama Easter holiday celebrations off early than by attending the Waterway Village Zydeco & Crawfish Festival on the Saturday before Easter Sunday? Things start off early with the Zydeco & Crawfish Festival 5k Run, and the crawfish start to boil around 10am. Arts & craft booths, lots of activities for the kids and plenty of crawfish! Zydeco will be playing from 10am ‘til 6pm. And, it’s ok to dance instead of walk (just try not to). Admission to the festival is free. Check the website for the music lineup and other details.
