Behind the Pines is a small local restaurant and bar, hidden behind a faded turquoise convenience store and pizzeria. It’s a local dive with tasty, homemade food made with fresh, local ingredients. It’s nothin’ fancy, just a place with good food and a friendly, family atmosphere. Add Behind the Pines to your list of casual restaurants to try while you’re in Gulf Shores on vacation.
This is a good, basic Gulf menu of Behind the Pines in Gulf Shores where co-mingling of the area’s Southern and Cajun roots is typical. Appetizers include onion rings, hot wings, Southern fried green tomatoes, hot wings, and fried pickles, all served with a kicky jalapeno ranch sauce. And everyone loves the Bang Bang Shrimp!
Gumbo, several salads, a couple of burgers (try their “world famous” nookie burger), a Philly steak sandwich, and fish or shrimp po’boys round out the menu. Entrees include the Grilled Tuna Steak, Seafood Platter, Shrimp & Grits, Fish Dinner and Shrimp Dinner. For those not interested in seafood, options include a Chicken Finger Dinner, Hamburger Steak, or the Vegetarian plate. Give the customer favorite Fish Tacos a try. You can also take advantage of their “You hook ‘em, we cook ‘em” offer; if you’ve landed a few fish during your trip, bring them on in and Behind the Pines in Gulf Shores will take cook them up to your taste. There are kids’ menu options too.
Besides good fresh food, there’s live entertainment on Sundays starting at 4pm and karaoke on Wednesdays beginning at 8pm. You can dine-in inside their casual dining room or order out and pick it up on your way back to your rental home. Either way, you’ll enjoy it. Come as you are and bring the kids; everyone is welcome!
It’s worth mentioning again that this small, local restaurant is hidden behind a convenience store and pizzeria at 8818 State Highway 180. It’s actually The Pines convenience store and pizzeria. (Get it? Behind “The Pines”)
