The beauty of Gulf Shores is a major reason why people keep coming back. From the sandy beaches to the unique southern wildlife, our scenery becomes quickly beloved by the end of any visit making it our biggest attraction in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It’s not surprising so many businesses make steady money showing off the best of our flora and fauna! One such group is Wild Native Tours, whose coastal eco-tour gets up close to the animals that thrive in and around the Gulf backwaters.
Wild Native is a company that operates Gulf Shores tours as well as tours out of Mobile, using their knowledge of bays and bayous to reveal the ecosystem that the cities were built on. They also operate fishing trips and canoe rentals, so you know they know they’ve got quite the set of sea legs!
Calling it their “‘backstage’ tour,” the Gulf Shores eco tour brings you down the rivers less traveled. The boat seats only twenty-two, creating an intimate setting where passengers and captain create their stories together. Alligators, pelicans, herons, dolphins and even bald eagles make their homes here, and you’re sure to get a glimpse of a few! The tour also passes by some local fisheries—on the way you’ll learn about the modern fishing industry, and catch sight of fishermen in action. It’s an all-in-one Gulf Shores eco tour, from the ecosystems of the rivers to the interplay of human with nature.
The usual public eco-tour price is about $20 for adults, $15 for kids aged 4 – 17, and $5 for infants (3 and under). You can also charter your private tour for a minimum of sixteen people at a price of $25 per person. The tour lasts about 90 minutes; visit their website to see specific departure times. Keep in mind, tickets must be purchased in advance, online or over the phone.
These Gulf Shores tours begin at the company’s Gulf Shores meetup point on County Road 6, at a dock located behind where Happy Harbor Pizza and Subs once was. It’s just north of Oyster Bay. To get there, take Highway 59 north. After the bridge, turn left onto Oyster Bay Road. Turn right onto Waterway West Boulevard, and then turn right again onto County Road 6. The old restaurant will be on your left in just 0.2 miles. Have your tickets ready when you arrive, as there are no sales at the docks!
Of course, no one Gulf shore tour can capture everything that’s great about Gulf Shores.
