Get ready for a great weekend of oysters and beer! Pencil in the first weekend of November on your calendar ASAP and start scheduling your trip to Gulf Shores for the Annual Oyster Cook-Off and Craft Beer Weekend!
Held at the beachfront Hangout Restaurant every November, this popular festival features oysters, beer and live entertainment. Check the Hangout’s website for updates on entertainment, ticket prices, chefs and sponsors and to verify the dates. Upgraded VIP tickets include Oyster Cook-Off Gulf Shores admission, exclusive chef tastings, chef meet & greets plus and invitation to the Chef After Party.
The Craft Beer Kickoff is held on Friday, from 6pm until 11pm. Your ticket includes samples of the over 50 craft brews on display, and live entertainment. This year the Brew B’que is included with your ticket and you can enjoy some great BBQ with your beer. Tickets for the Friday night beer tasting are $40 in advance. Get your tickets early as prices will go up the day of the event.
On Saturday, enjoy the Oyster Cook-Off – delicious oyster dishes from dozens of local and celebrity chefs from the Southeast. There will be three categories for best oyster and you can taste all the entries! Stop by the North American Oyster Bar for samples of fresh oysters flown in from seven different regions of the country. Give them all a try and see how our local oysters compare to the rest. Admission to the Oyster Cook-Off and Craft Beer Weekend on Saturday is $10. Tasting tickets for oysters will be available for purchase.
Learn some new techniques from the chefs during cooking demonstrations and workshops during the weekend. And, don’t worry if your favorite team is playing on Saturday. You won’t have to miss a thing – you can catch all the action in one of the sports viewing lounges on site while enjoying oysters and cold beer!
The Hangout is located at 101 East Beach Blvd in Gulf Shores, right on the beach. If you can’t make it for this event, don’t worry, there is always something happening at the Hangout – tailgating parties, Swing Dance Nights on Mondays, Trivia & Bingo on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and live music on Friday nights. A family friendly beach bar, the Hangout has courtyard games, a sand pit, hourly foam parties ‘til 6pm and a beach side picnic area. Their menu is kid friendly too. Try their famous fish tacos, or any one of the fresh seafood dishes, burgers and sandwiches. You won’t want to leave this beach hangout after the Oyster Cook-Off in Gulf Shores!
