The Alabama Coastal Birding Trail might be better described as a series of Alabama birding trails—a string of paths loved by Alabama bird-enthusiasts that became organized as one long trail in the 1990s. It stretches through both Baldwin County and Mobile County, with over two hundred miles of Alabama birding trail loops. If you’re staying in Gulf Shores, the two most accessible will be the Gulf Shores-Orange Beach Loop and the Fort Morgan Loop.
Hiking, hunting, and more are also popular on these Alabama coastal birding trails, but as the name implies, bird-watching is by far the most popular activity. A huge variety of birds make their temporary or year-long homes here, with a surprising amount of variation between the different birding spots.
