Gulf Shores Vacation House Rentals for One
While our Gulf Shores properties have two or more bedrooms, they can still be affordable for one person. Just think of it this way – you get to choose which bedroom you like, no fighting over the space! Can’t choose? You don’t have to – you can use them all! And you might feel more at ease staying in your own rental home here in Gulf Shores than in a large, impersonal hotel somewhere on the mainland.
We have condos in complexes and resort communities, so you can choose when you want to be around other people. Sometimes it’s a good thing to at least know people are around if you want or need them, especially if you’re not used to vacationing alone. It’s like your first step to independence. Plus, if your rental is in a resort or community you can use their indoor pool, fitness center, spa or other amenities.
Or choose a beachfront cottage; you’ll be able to sit on your deck watching the action or walk a few feet to the beach to start your day. If you are craving solitude, and truly want to be alone, a beachfront cabin is the way to go. We also have rentals on the backwater, on the bay side of the peninsula for a quiet, peaceful getaway. You can sit out on the deck watching the stars reflections on the dark, calm waters while you enjoy the frogs’ nightly chorus.
All of our Gulf Shores vacation house rentals have full kitchens, and some even have gourmet style kitchens where you can practice your knife skills. This is the perfect time to try a few new recipes too – maybe work up a new shrimp recipe using our fresh Gulf shrimp. You know it’ll be great! You can eat every meal in on your deck if you choose. Or head out to a local restaurant for fresh seafood and company. Sit at the bar enjoying a cool beer with the locals and watch the game, or order take-out to eat on the deck. It’s your vacation, you decide.
Activities for One
Beach activities are perfect for solo travelers. Spend your days walking along the surf, searching for shells, watching dolphins play in the bright blue ocean, or work on your tan while you people watch. It’s the perfect time to finish the latest book by your favorite author as you lounge on the sand.
Hike through the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, bird watching as you go. This “safe harbor” provides a much-needed sanctuary for several endangered species including Loggerhead turtles and the Snowy Plover. The Refuge is also on the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail and is a stopover point for migratory birds every spring and fall.
Or hike the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail in Gulf State Park, with over 28 miles through nine different ecosystems, including freshwater marshes and butterfly gardens! Be on the lookout for white tailed deer and alligators or add to your fun by geocaching! The Park offers plenty of activities for solo travelers too besides hiking or biking. Cool off in the swimming pool, rent a kayak at Lake Shelby, or try your hand at fishing off the pier.
This is the perfect time to learn a new skill: parasailing, paddle boarding, or kayaking. Take things at your own pace, no worrying about holding the group back, or waiting for them to catch up! Your friends will be amazed (and jealous?) at your newfound expertise when you return home.
And who doesn’t love the zoo? Spend time wandering around the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Learn more about several endangered animals, including Bengal tigers, red ruffed lemurs, toucans, and black leopards, while you munch on cotton candy and peanuts. Zoos are for adults who love animals just as much as they are for kids. Stroll at your own pace, visit the animals you like, and eat as much cotton candy and ice cream as you want. This is your time to enjoy having a lemur sit on your shoulder, or to pet a camel, all without any rude comments from your friends about being too old.
Or lose yourself in the crowd at one of our popular beach hangouts; Lulu’s and The Hangout always have something going on! You can be in the crowd without actually being a part of the crowd. You can meet some new friends, or just hangout and watch the fun while you enjoy fresh seafood and a cool adult beverage.
All of our Gulf Shores vacation house rentals have beach views, full kitchens and free Wi-Fi so you can stay in touch with everyone (if you want to). No matter what you want – high-rise views, direct beach access, a swimming pool, or a pet-friendly rental – we have a property that will be just right for spending quality time alone in our Gulf coast paradise. Give us a call if you have any questions at all or need a few suggestions for solo-friendly activities and restaurants. We want to help make your solo vacation here as easy and as memorable as it can be.
